"Captain James took us on a catfishing trip and it was an amazing time, we caught a bunch of fish and shared lots of memories for my dad's 90th birthday! I highly recommend Captain James" - Clay
"Captain James is amazing! He was very patient with me as I do not fish a lot and he was very knowledgeable! I think he also was able to teach my husband a thing or two as well :). I would definitely recommend this tour with Captain James! We will be back for sure!!!" - Michelle
"Captain James was fantastic! He was very polite, accommodating and patient with us. He was a great guide for my group of beginners but I could tell he would be just as wonderful to host experienced fishermen as well. He was super knowledgeable about the Lake and he knew the best spots to fish. He helped us every step of the way and made sure we had everything we needed for a good time. We caught upwards of 30 fish in our time with him. He has great fishing techniques and tips, great equipment, and a very well equipped boat. He was even nice enough to clean and filet the fish we caught and gave us some cooking tips. We will definitely be using James again for another Lake Conroe outing, he is a wonderful steward of Lake Conroe and a true fisherman." - Ronald
White Bass: These silvery fighters are the bread and butter of Lake Conroe fishing. They school up in huge numbers, especially in the spring when they make their spawning run. White bass are known for their explosive strikes and the way they dart around when hooked. They typically range from 1-3 pounds, but what they lack in size, they make up for in numbers. When you hit a school, it's non-stop action that'll have your arms tired in no time.
Striped Bass: The big brothers of the white bass, stripers in Lake Conroe can grow to impressive sizes. These powerful fish are known for their hard-pulling fights and can weigh up to 20 pounds or more. Stripers are most active in the cooler months, and when you hook into one, you'll know it. They make long, powerful runs that'll test your drag and your stamina. Landing a big striper is a badge of honor for any angler visiting Lake Conroe.
Channel Catfish: These whiskered bottom-dwellers are a Lake Conroe staple. Channel cats are known for their tender, flaky meat and can be found year-round. They average 2-5 pounds but can grow much larger. Catfishing is especially good at night or early morning, and there's nothing quite like feeling that distinctive 'thump' when a catfish takes your bait. They're not the prettiest fish in the lake, but they're one of the tastiest.
Blue Catfish: The heavyweight champion of Lake Conroe, blue cats can grow to monstrous sizes. While most catches are in the 5-15 pound range, there are stories of 50+ pounders lurking in the depths. Blue cats prefer deeper water than their channel cat cousins and put up a stubborn fight when hooked. Landing a big blue cat is often a team effort and a true test of an angler's skill.
Yellow Bass: Often overlooked but always fun to catch, yellow bass (also known as barfish) are scrappy little fighters that school up in huge numbers. They rarely grow over a pound, but what they lack in size they make up for in action. Yellow bass hit hard and fight above their weight class. They're great for introducing kids to fishing because of the fast action they provide. Plus, they're excellent eating when you can catch enough for a meal.
Alright, folks, let's cut to the chase – if you're itching to get out on Lake Conroe and fill your cooler with some of the best fish Texas has to offer, it's time to lock in your trip. Our 4-hour charters are flying off the calendar faster than a striped bass hits a topwater lure. Remember, we take care of everything from rods to reels, and even clean your catch at the end. All you need to bring is your fishing license and a good attitude. Whether you're looking to learn the ropes or just want to spend a few hours relaxing on the water, we've got you covered. Don't let another fishing season slip by – give us a call, and let's get you hooked up with some Lake Conroe action. Trust me, the only thing you'll regret is not doing it sooner. See you on the water!

Blue cats are the bruisers of Lake Conroe - big, strong, and always up for a fight. These slate-colored giants average 10-30 pounds but can top 50. Look for them in deep holes and channels, especially near creek mouths. They're most active in cooler months. Blues are opportunistic feeders, so fresh cut bait is key. They put up a powerful, bulldogging fight that'll test your gear and skills. To target the big ones, use stout tackle and fish on or near the bottom. Here's a pro tip: try drifting with multiple rods to cover more water. When you hook up, get ready for a battle royale. Blues are considered excellent eating too, especially the smaller ones. Just be careful handling these big boys - they've got some serious teeth and spines.
Channel cats are Lake Conroe staples - always willing to bite and fun for all skill levels. They usually run 2-5 pounds, but 10+ pounders aren't uncommon. Look for them near cover like stumps or drop-offs, especially in 5-15 foot depths. Cats feed actively at night, so evening trips can be productive. They're not picky eaters - cut bait, worms, or stinkbait all work well. Channel cats put up a good fight and are excellent table fare. For best results, use a slip-sinker rig to keep your bait near the bottom. Here's a local tip: after a heavy rain, fish the incoming creeks and rivers. The runoff stirs up food and attracts hungry catfish. Just watch those fins when unhooking - they're sharp!
Striped bass are hard-fighting fish that'll really test your skills. On Lake Conroe, they average 5-15 pounds but can top 30 pounds. Look for stripers chasing bait in open water or hanging near deep structure. They're most active in cooler months, especially fall and spring. Stripers put up an awesome fight - powerful runs and acrobatic jumps. They're also great eating. To land one, try trolling with deep-diving crankbaits or live bait like shad. Watch for birds working the surface - that usually means stripers are feeding below. A local trick: toss a topwater plug into the frenzy and hang on tight. These fish hit hard and run fast, so make sure your drag is set right. Catching a big striper is a real rush and a highlight for many anglers out here.
White bass are scrappy little fighters that'll keep you busy all day. These silvery fish usually run 10-12 inches, but can reach 18 inches in Lake Conroe. Look for them in shallow water near structure like points and drop-offs. They school up and chase shad, so watch for surface activity. Spring is prime time when they make spawning runs up creeks and rivers. White bass put up a great fight on light tackle and are tasty eating too. To catch 'em, try small jigs, spinners, or live minnows. Work your lure through the school with a steady retrieve. When you hook one, get ready for more - where there's one, there's usually a bunch. Just remember to check regulations, as there are often limits on these popular game fish.
Yellow bass are feisty little fish that are a blast on light tackle. They usually run 6-10 inches and weigh under a pound, but what they lack in size they make up for in fight. Look for them in shallow water near rocky shores or over sandy flats. They school up, so where you catch one, there's likely more. Spring and fall are peak seasons when the water's cooler. Yellows hit small jigs, spinners, and live bait like minnows or worms. They're aggressive feeders and great for introducing kids to fishing. Here's a local secret: try fishing with a small jig under a slip bobber - it's deadly on these guys. While they're not huge, yellow bass are tasty eating and perfect for a fish fry. Just remember to check the latest regulations on limits.
