Trip - Lake Conroe Beginner Fishing Charter on September 20, 2025

Enjoyed our morning with Captain James going catfishing! The weather was nice and peaceful to go out on the lake. Captain James was very knowledgeable about getting us to the good fishing spots and educated us some on how to read the fish finder. We really enjoyed our trip and would highly recommend Fish Head Water Sports!

Had a great time. Captain James is friendly easy going and took care of everything from baiting hooks to cleaning fish. Made sure everyone was accommodated the hole trip. His boat is roomy and comfortable as well. I highly recommend and will be booking another trip on the future.

Trip - Lake Conroe Beginner Fishing Charter on June 28, 2025

Awesome day fishing with captain James. We headed out early at 6am because he said it would be better for striped bass and boy was it. We started in one spot and they weren’t hitting so we quickly moved and then found a spot where they were on fire! All keepers! We even caught some large cats. Once stripers quit hitting we moved on to catfish and caught a bunch! Awesome trip! Boat was awesome too. Great electronics and captain James even taught me how to read the sonar. After all this he cleaned and bagged all the fish! Highly recommend him. Had my wife and two pre-teen kids with us and it was great.

We are so glad we booked our first Lake Conroe fishing trip with Captain James and Fish Head Water Sports! Our Captain had extensive knowledge of the lake and knew how to find great pockets of fish. I have been fishing before, but my wife was new to this. Captain James had her pulling them up in no time. She had a blast and now wants to fish more so big bonus. We ended the day with 45 so it was quite the catch. (Although my wife caught another catfish and a bluegill with her new hobby from our deck after we got back so 47 for the day) We would highly recommend Captain James- He was friendly and adept at getting around the lake and finding the fish. Beautiful views and at days end he filleted all our fish. We will definitely book him again for our next tour! Thank you!

My wife and I went out for a 5 hour trip. We left the dock at 6 am to start our fishing trip for hybrids. We caught 2 hybrids that were keepers and caught some more hybrids that unfortunately werent keepers. The bite slowed down a little where we were but fortunately the captain knew other spots to go fishing. The next fish on our list to catch was catfish. We ended up with lots of catfish between my wife and I. We also caught some yellow bass , and fresh water drum. We highly recommend using fish head water sports guide services ! The captain also filets your catch and bags it for you! 5/5 stars and definitely will use them again !

Captain James was very knowledgeable about the lake and clearly had lots of experience. He worked hard to make sure our entire group was catching fish. The morning started out a little bit slow but James did everything he could to put us onto some fish: tried several spots, different bait and hooks. Eventually we all started catching. This was my two teenage brothers’ first time going out and James was patient, encouraging, and informative. Overall a fun experience.

Captain James was fantastic! He was very polite, accommodating and patient with us. He was a great guide for my group of beginners but I could tell he would be just as wonderful to host experienced fishermen as well. He was super knowledgeable about the Lake and he knew the best spots to fish. He helped us every step of the way and made sure we had everything we needed for a good time. We caught upwards of 30 fish in our time with him. He has great fishing techniques and tips, great equipment, and a very well equipped boat. He was even nice enough to clean and filet the fish we caught and gave us some cooking tips. We will definitely be using James again for another Lake Conroe outing, he is a wonderful steward of Lake Conroe and a true fisherman.

Thanks Cap! Took my 84 yr young Mom and her sister my Aunt on an April afternoon trip. Awesome Trip! About 30 cats in the box and Cap filleted them the way Mom wanted! Cap did his best keeping the girls in the shade! My wife also had a great time! Thanks again Cap for making this a memorable day with my Mom and Aunt! Jesse Cuellar

Captain James is amazing! He was very patient with me as I do not fish a lot and he was very knowledgeable! I think he also was able to teach my husband a thing or two as well :). I would definitely recommend this tour with Captain James! We will be back for sure!!!
